I’m Kiran! I’m a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) passionate about working with clients who are finding it challenging to manage or make sense of their emotions, navigate relationships, pursue the goals that matter to them, and stay grounded in the present moment. I’m committed to providing an individualized, evidence-based approach tailored to each client’s needs, goals, values, and strengths, and have worked with teens and adults with personality disorder, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and a wide range of other presenting concerns. My primary treatment modality is dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), though I also incorporate principles and strategies from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mentalization-based therapy (MBT) to support clients’ needs. In line with the spirit of DBT, my clinical style balances a focus on acceptance and change, providing the warmth that allows you to come as you are, and the encouragement that helps you to grow and keep working towards your goals. I also value being an authentic and collaborative therapist, creating a space where every client can show up as their fully authentic self.
I have my Master’s in Clinical Psychology and am working towards my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Houston, where my research focuses on improving assessment and early intervention for young people with personality disorder. Prior to joining the DBT Center, I have provided individual and group therapy to teens, parents, and adults in an outpatient hospital setting, university-based community healthcare center, and two nonprofit organizations. On the weekends, I enjoy finding new coffee shops and restaurants, listening to live music, and enjoying Houston’s beautiful parks!
