I’m the director/owner of the DBT Center, a psychologist who was the first Linehan Board of Certification certified therapist in Texas, a certified RO DBT supervisor and trainer (the second certified supervisor in the United States), and a DBT trainer. I’m passionate about learning and constantly finding new ways to improve the psychological health and the quality of life for all our clients. Our team is committed to excellence and continuously are involved in developing knowledge and skills at the cutting edge of mental health and wellness. We work with individuals, families and couples who are facing daily life problems, issues that all humans face, and also with individuals who want to recovery from disorders such as depression, anxiety, addictions, bpd, over controlled disorders, ocpd, and eating disorders. We work with all ages to achieve their best lives. We listen to, learn from, and work as a guide with our clients to help them reach their own goals.
I’m also the director of DBTWise. DBTWise is a training company offering training, for therapists by therapists. Our mission is to listen to the needs of therapists, learn from our colleagues, and share what we have learned in our work.Through DBTWise we offer training in DBT, supervision in DBT and supervision in RO DBT as well as webinars for the interested non-therapist.
My books include SAVVY: Communication Skills for Family and Friends of Someone with Borderline Personality Disorder; The Emotionally Sensitive Person: Finding Peace When Your Emotions Overwhelm You; and Mindfulness Exercises for DBT Therapists . I’m also the co-author of The Power of Validation and my most recent publication The Radically Open DBT Workbook for Eating Disorders. In addition, I blog for Psychology Today (Pieces of Mind).
