Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, research-based therapy that enables people of all ages to process stressful and traumatic experiences—acute, chronic, and pre-verbal (ie, difficult birth, and early attachment concerns including adoption). Therapists who are trained in EMDR have completed rigorous education, practicum, and on-going consultations.

Part of EMDR treatment includes bilateral stimulation (BLS) which helps the brain and body integrate and process an experience. BLS can happen in a variety of individually and developmentally preferred ways. BLS options include eye movements, auditory sounds, swaying side to side, tapping, and more. There are 8 phases of EMDR treatment (see image).

Our trained therapists look forward to meeting with you to discuss whether EMDR is a beneficial treatment option for you or your children.

EMDR can help with a variety of challenges:

Anxiety

Depression

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
