Throughout life, we are often faced with challenges and difficulties, which can lead to ineffective coping. By understanding what’s happened to us in the past, we can work to implement changes in the present day, effectively bringing meaning and joy to our lives. I received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Houston and my Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University. I was intensively trained in DBT through Behavioral Tech and completed ERP training through the BTTI. I have also completed training in CBT and RO-DBT.
With a background in evidence-based therapy, I blend behavioral and relational therapeutic approaches in my work. I began my clinical work at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, where I received training in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. While there, I developed an interest in suicide prevention and mental health advocacy. Since then, I have also worked at the Council on Recovery supporting individuals and families through the struggles of addiction. My other areas of interest include trauma, grief, attachment work, family of origin issues, and recovery.
I will show up authentically and passionately for my clients. Change is hard, even when we seek it out and welcome it, it can be hard. I have great appreciation for the fact that clients allow me to be a part of their change journey. One of the most rewarding things in my job is to see clients implement new skills that help them thrive in their lives.
