Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is offered to appropriate clients. KAP is a safe, legal modality that pairs sub-lingual ketamine treatment with therapy sessions for deeper therapy, more frequent breakthroughs and better clinical outcomes. Learn more about KAP here.
Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD. Ketamine has rapidly-acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, It works by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors as well as by stimulating AMPA receptors, which are thought to help form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood. Ketamine has also been shown to enhance neuroplasticity for lasting change. Ketamine can be administered in a variety of ways, including IV infusion, intramuscular injection, nasal spray (Spravato) and via sublingual lozenges. In our work, we will only use the sublingual lozenge form.
KAP supports clients with preparation, dosing, and integration sessions, while Journey Clinical’s medical team of prescribers handle eligibility, prescription, and outcome monitoring to ensure safety. We decided to offer KAP after witnessing how ketamine can be a powerful catalyst for lasting change. See the steps for KAP on our website.
